Amazonian gastronomy

The gastronomy of the State of Amazonas, among others in Brazil, was one of those that most preserved its indigenous origins, with little Portuguese or African influence. As one of the most exotic cuisines in the country, Amazonian cuisine has an influence in Brazil and in the world.

It values, above all, the fish, the main fish consumed are pirarucu, tambaqui, tucunaré, pacu and jaraqui. Among the snacks, we highlight the x-caboquinho, an Amazonian sandwich that consists of French bread stuffed with tucumã chips.

The fish dishes of the region are typical of Manauara cuisine. The typical fish variety is large and the tacacá, broth made with cassava root juice with shrimp, tapioca cornstarch, green coriander salad, onion, shrimp and jambú. Of course, there is also the Brazilian national dish “Feijoada”, in Manaus.

The Amazon is also unique with many different fruits, almost unknown in Europe, almost all offered as juices, creams and pies. All from the region. Graviola, Cupuaçu, Açaí, Jenipapo, Bacuri, Pupunha and Tucumã stand out here and all the other countless fruits unknown to the rest of the world.
